    Cant see it ever happening. As it is they provide the minimum they can get away with on Saorview for their licence. They don't want to support competing platforms.

    I would imagine you will be able to stream it on the fibre broadband sooner than they go on Saorsat. f the NBP goes as planned then Saorsat could be obsolete in 10 years.

    I think it was primarily intended as a backup feed to the transmitter sites. However there are parts of the country that cannot get a usable Saorview signal.

    Everyone goes on about broadband and online is the way of the future. It is surprisingly easy to knock out BB coverage either by accident, act of god (weather) or deliberately.
    Last Friday we had a power cut so no router. For some reason mobile coverage also goes during outages (I thought they had batteries) so no internet access at all. But my crappy little FM radio still worked.
