    Hey Laptop Gurus!

Following on from an earlier thread in which my lovely wife had settled on a chromebook :D

She has done that most ladylike of things and changed her mind completely ;)
She has decided she wants to stick with windows, and that my own current laptop is more what she is after.

My current machine is a HPX360 14ba150 with an i5 and 8gb of ram.
She does not need that level of grunt, bor does she need the "convertible" aspect.

She does like the size, so 14" is the sweetspot. She also really wants a touchscreen.

I'm happy to go with AMD, price is also a consideration so ideally I'd be in and around the €350 mark.

Is there anything out there that I should keep a look out for?
Recommendations appreciated, because I'm currently up to my neck in bloody end of term essays :o

touchscreen is a feature not found on the most budget laptops which the €350 mark very much is.

this is a nice light option with full hd display for €390

the cpu is near current i3 level (and at older i3 level) and perfectly fine for all common tasks

It's the lowest that I'd go.

Dell does have some outlet models starting at 500 or so, worth a look.

Why does she really want a touchscreen? May as well go for a cheap Android tablet

tbh a touch-screen imo is not very useful on a laptop unless it's extremely light with a detachable keyboard where you can use it like a tablet. because normal laptops are too heavy to hold / use like a tablet

    e.g. Ms surface type product.

My laptop has it and I very rarely use it.

    Thanks will take a look.
Have a 10% discount with Dell and also have access to student discount with other suppliers via the Heanet and studentbeans but tracking down something that fits what she wants is a bloody nightmare!

@Glasso, as always thanks for the input.
I'm sorely tempted to buy myself a nice refurb with the budget and give her mine.
I have a HP x360 with a stylus and tbh never really use tablet mode, stylus or touch screen.

She has gotten into the habit of scrolling with touch, and there are some gesture controls in office that she is taken with.
IMHO its a gimmick and she will be back to the keyboard as soon as any real work needs doing.

@Fritzelly, initially she had settled on a Chromebook.
But then decided that office365 and app access wasn't to her taste.

I've no experience of these models, but they're kind of close to what you asked for, albeit over budget:
