Weird problem with my 520d

    Hi all,

    I have a weird problem with my 2017 G30 520D.

When I drive above 120 kph, it periodically throws up a message on the screen "Drivetrain" with an orange spanner. It goes into limp mide for a split second and then recovers. Weird thing is, just before this happens the live fuel economy bar climbs to damn near 20l/100 (like I was accelerating) even though the car is attempting to maintain speed on the flat. Under 120kph everything is peachy ... although overall fuel economy is worse.

Just last week it was in with a dealer getting the EGR cooler replaced under a recall. I'm bringing it back tomorow for them to fix it, but its a weird issue I've never cone across before.

Any of you fine people heard of this or something similar?

    Thanks in advance

Sounds like it could be connected to the egr issue. The drivetrain warning is one of the symptoms. Get them to check the egr they replaced as they may have messed up the installation and software update to reflect it.

    Have a read of this.

It could be a number of things

They did my egr twice. Similar issues to you not too soon after egr replaced.

Would it be a bit obvious to suggest not driving above 120...?

With that attitude.. why replace a blown bulb, just don't drive at night.

Worn Wiper blades.. don't drive in the rain.

    Indicators don't work,.... Actually... Nevermind

Turned out to be a boost pipe had a bit of a split in it.
    Being replaced under warranty now.

Thanks for the input lads and ladettes. Much appreciated.

Same issues that happened to my 151 X5. EGR and split or hole in the Boost Pipe
