Stupid question time (Avensis blower)

Really quick question, hopefully somebody can give me an actual answer inside the deluge of ridiculous ones I'll inevitably get :D

Driving a T25 Avensis, and I only use a couple of the settings on the air blower selector, namely the windscreen one, and the windscreen/foot one.

I've noticed there are detents between the foot setting, the foot and windscreen setting, and the windscreen setting, but not between the face setting, and the face and foot setting.

These two positions are marked only by a filled circle, or dot.

Question is, what are these settings?

These are the dots, what they do I don't know.

*Dot 1- favouring footwell, with some air-flow to windscreen
    *Dot 2 - the opposite.

*Dots are used on both temp and speed controls also; more obvious as to their meaning.

    They’re halfway settings.

Thanks folks. I had tried putting them on each of the two halfway settings, but didnt reallu notice any discernible difference

The car's at least 10 years old, the cables and mechanisms have probably got a bit loose over time so it might not really do much.

The blower settings actually work fine, I just didn't notice much difference when I set it to the halfway settings as opposed to the full settings either side

I'd say the "full" settings are more well defined in the mechanism, just a guess though.

    It’s all electronic

Really? Well there's still flaps and motors, gears, etc. somewhere, and most of it probably plastic...

Yep, they’re in behind the glovebox and will most likely still be working like new.
