I'm due to receive a brand new car in Feb 2020. Is it worth having it detailed from the get-go?

Are there any good detailers in the Limerick area? Thx for any info.

I wouldnt get the dealer to detail the car as they will only rush through it to get the car out. Go to an independent detailer with good reputation.

    What car is it?

Thanks! Yeah, getting it from FH. 1.5 TSI DSG. Expected early Feb. I'd consider having a detail if I know of someone reasonably local with a good rep. Don't want to chance it to just anyone without some good recommendation! :)

A good ceramic coating could be a good investment for a beautiful car like that. Enjoy.

Definitely get it done with that colour.
Will look and keep it’s sparkle for a long time to come.

    As suggested,
Get James from MX valeting to do it, I am sure he goes to dealers to do them prior to collection.

I suppose you need to ask yourself, why would i get it "detailed", and to what level should i get it detailed. "Detailed" is really an open ended word. Can mean from a detailed, thorough wash and some shorter term protection applied, right through to a high level machine polish to remove clear coat surface inflictions such as factory and transportation induced inflictions, to potential pre-delivery paint shop repair and dealership prep of vehicle before handover(which is the vast majority of cases will be a not-so-safe wash that can insure some swirl marks before you've even got the keys of your new car!!) and possible ceramic coatings applied to the different interior/exterior surfaces.
Ceramics are very much a buzz word about the car care industry at the moment. They can work fantastic when applied correctly, however i do feel there is a bit of a misconception about the level to which they can protect your vehicle. If you are looking to get a ceramic coating to stop scratches on your vehicle.......prepare to be disappointed. Even a coated car that doesn't follow a safer wash maintenance routine, will become swirled up, despite what the installer/manufacturer/seller say.
If you would like a product that has good durability from one application, will leave your vehicle looking shiny and glossy for longer, making it much easier to clean, and adding some protection to the paintwork against harsher chemical exposure such as bird-poo, bug splatter, strong wash chemicals,etc.......then a ceramic coating can be an very good and welcome addition. There is then the fact that the coating will add "additional" surface hardness to your paintwork, which can possibly reduce exposure to wash marring/swirling(this is a grey area as there is a lot to factor in such the paint structure/hardness, the coating itself, the kind of wash maintenance performed, etc). There's also the possibility that having a well kept car can increase it's value when you decide to sell/trade in. I know of a high end, bespoke independent dealership, and he will tell you that the cars he gets corrected/coated always have a quicker turnaround when selling when he gets them traded back in. You have time on your hand till it's arrival, so research the coatings and installers available to you.

A tip i would give would be to organise prior to collection for the dealership to not prep your car in a wash/protection aspect. This will mean less paintwork correction(so less cost). If possible, see if the dealership can accommodate the car going to the detailer prior to collection. If not, try and book into the detailer as close to handover as possible. Some trusted providers close to you that i can think of would be(in no particular order):

    -MX Valeting(Limerick)
    -FB Auto Detailing(Galway)
    -OCD Detailing(Offaly)
    -D&D Detailing (Cork)
    -TJ Auto Detailing (Tipperary).

If on Facebook, there is a good group called I.D.E(Irelands Detailing Enthusiasts), where you can ask for more feedback or advice.

@clubberlang12, Thanks very much for that detailed (pardon the pun, lol) reply.

I'll weigh up the options nearer the date. On previous new cars, I have just done a careful and thorough handwash & dry myself after delivery, and applied caranuba wax, repeated every three months or so and I have had (to my eyes anyway) pretty good results.

I'll enjoy doing the research. :)

Piggybacking on this as I was going to start a thread on the same topic (new car January).

I've (currently) declined the garage care protect option and have a few links opened from this sub forum for detailers but none specify such a service.

    Any recommendations for Dublin?

I'd be more likely to head down to Limerick!

    Travel is an option though.
