Recommend '09-'11 with cheap tax?

My '02 A4 is getting up for insurance/tax renewal next month and the insurance companies would rather I not drive it, it seems, so thinking about a change.

Right, I know I'll be criticised/slagged but am really looking for the cheap tax (ideally €200) bracket car, as I only do a very small mileage.

I've seen a couple of 1.2 (petrol of course) Puntos '09-'11 for €2-3k, this gets me insurance for about 300 and tax 200/270. Similar story with Ford Ka

I know this is a very general question, and much depends on the specific car and how it was looked after etc, but, IN GENERAL, do such small cars have a useful life after about 10 years/80k miles?

What is the opinion of the Pinto/Ka/i10, what would my best bet be for the age/price range I quoted in terms of reliable motoring in the city?

    Thanks!

Is it more or less all city driving?
A smaller car will feel an awful lot lighter etc compared to an Audi A4, but if it's mainly city driving, then a smaller car might actually suit you better and be more economical too

Hybrid auris if the budget allows. Perfect for driving in heavy traffic.

Post 08 1.8 petrol civics are cheap to tax, good on fuel, reasonably powerful and reliable too.
