I’m a non EU Irish spouse residents here in Ireland. Me and my family are planning to go to France this 27 of December for 6days.I obtained a schengen visa from Spanish Embassy last summer and will not expire until January 2020.

I am just wondering if we can travel if our GNIB card will expire on 22 Feb 2020 that would be 2 months travelling before our GNIB will expire?

Would there be any problem with that?

Hope u can help me with my query.
    Thank you.

Do you mean that you will be traveling outside of Ireland for more than two months and your card will expire while you are abroad, or that you'll be traveling for just six days in December/January and then returning two months before your GNIB registration expires? As long as you return to Ireland before your current GNIB card expires, you should have no issue. If you were outside the country when your card expires, you would then need a visa to re-enter Ireland, though (assuming you are a visa-requiring national).

If you are planning a trip that coincides with your GNIB card's expiration, you should try to renew your permission and obtain your new card before you leave. If you explain that you are going to be abroad at the renewal date, they will probably allow you to renew a bit earlier than usual.

Hi dennyk.thank you for your reply.i will be travelling for 6days and will be returning to Ireland 2 months before it expires. You are right.I called the Spanish embassy yesterday and thankfully I got the answered. They said that as long as I have a valid schengen visa I can travel to schengen countries until my GNIB card expires but when applying schengen visa it should be valid for atleast 3months after the expiry date of the visa applied for.
