I'm a Stranger Here, Myself

    Greetings
We've bought a house in West Cork. I need shopping guidance.
Y'all understand that in the States, we hop over to the nearest Walmart, Home Depot, wottever (collectively known as Big Box Stores; and the bane of honest retailers everywhere) and buy boxes of nails, lumber, maybe packaged assortments of 55 kinds of small nails, fasteners, picture hangers, etc. ad infinitum.

Here in the small towns at least it's local hardware stores where that picture hanger, package of one, may cost a euro.

eBay seems to provide some respite with used power tools; there's some help from Amazon UK. But truly I haven't yet seen a box of 8d nails, just for instance.

Where do handypersons, DIYers, home carpenters, and all such folk find such supplies?
I'm near Bantry, but can make expeditions now and again.

    Thanks!

Builders providers would be what you're after. Heres one that's not too far from you.

The sort of stores you're talking about are the likes of Woodies and B&Q. The nearest of those would be in Cork City. What area are you in? If you're close to Kerry, John R's (top line) in Kenmare might suit you.
