Kia Ceed ignition barrel problem

Hi I have a 2007 kia ceed. I put the key in the ignition barrel this morning and went to turn the key. The key turned a small bit (acc position) and is now stuck in the ignition barrel, I can’t turn the car on nor can I take the key back out. I’ve noticed recently the key was sticking a small bit when in the barrel.

What should I do? Is this an expensive fix?

    Thanks

Not being funny, but is the steering lock still on? If so, pull the steering wheel to take the pressure off, and then try turning the key.

No its not on, I’ve tried turning the steering wheel while wiggling the key also. Even sprayed a drop of WD40 into the barrel.

    Still no luck though

Had this with my c'eed. Had to be a little rough turning the key while jerking the steering wheel to get it off and removed, however after that I started using the spare key and it was fine

Rang insurance company and I am covered for breakdown assistance. They sent out Lock Doctor to investigate. LD said that the insurance company covers todays call out charge and the rest I’ll have to pay for myself. So they removed ignition barrel from car and brought it back to their shop to refurbish and cut a new key. They will call back to refit. They quoted me €150. Does this price for ye sound reasonable for this work.

I live in Kilkenny and LD are based in Waterford. Seem a bit silly that the insurance company would not just tow the car to somebody more local to fix.

    Even still €150 seems reasonable.
