Looking to buy a cheap and cheerful hammer drill for handy jobs around the farm,(masonary drilling) such as hanging drinking bowls in sheds and hanging gates, has anyone got anything that they find works well. Not looking to spend too much as it would probaly only be used 2 to 3 times a year

There is 2 different drills in pictures....

A lot of farm walls contain stone or very tough concrete...SDS drill is what you want.... Still should be possible to get a lidl type quality one for less than 80, but 21 I can not believe.

Don't forget you will need long extension cables.... and all that running through mud and snagging on metal gates..... Its one reason the 18v battery sds models from bosch came popular, however they are quite expensive...

We got a PowerPlus SDS from our local Topline a couple of years ago:

    https://www.varo.com/en-gb/45/6856/a/products/powerplus/power-tools/hammer-drills/hammer-drill-1600w

Let's be honest, it's the cheapest kind of mass produced junk but has blazed easily through concrete for various fixings and some minor demolition (knocking down some low pillars of cavity blocks) each time we've needed it.

I know it's stating the obvious but don't buy at this level for something that'll get used every day but it's fine for occasional use around the farm.

Even good blue bosch professional 230V SDS drill pricing less than 150 eur... So no need to be buying heavier less quality stuff at 80 eur... check

At this time of year try and hang on till black friday (end nov) and hope Amazon put 20% discount on their warehouse electricals...they normally do, stuff only has a scratched box or better still a scratched button or missing accessory ( more discount)

18V bosch angle grinder and drill kits might be justifiable to some on the emergency reasons.. IF a beast went down in a pin or god forbid something very important to you got stuck somewhere....

Looking for a cordless drill suitable for a vink lime spreader. A mate has a parkside 20v lidl drill which is perfect for the job but there's no sign of them coming to Lidl in the near future. Don't want to spend too much as I hear the lime can be hard on drills. Thanks for any recommendations

Get a battery drill. No point getting a 230v that you need to plug in for farm work.
