No, definitely not. You don't have to use it or register for it.

I figured that, but I wanted to be sure as some contact I had with the local DEASP heaviuly suggested otherwise.
Its a lot of data to submit to one site, and frankly it doesnt seem to be much use from what Ive heard.

My misses was encouraged to use that site by the local jobs club and up load her c.v and cover letter. She has not received one reply from anyone looking for staff.
It looks to me like anyone applying for a job through that site are automatically dismissed for what ever reason

I have an activation meeting next week with welfare as part of Steps to Work. I had to fill out stuff online in advance - education, work history and it strongly recommended registering with jobsireland.

I had a look around the website and was not impressed. Is it still not mandatory and if I don't register can they reduce my payment?

Yes I'm 10 years away from retirement and need a new job but don't feel like being treated like a kid.

It's not mandatory but if referred to Pathways to work, it is expected you register. It's linked & they can check if you have been searching for jobs, most of which are silly.

Yes I have my first meeting next week and I'm still undecided if I should go ahead and register. Maybe I should just do it as you say - it's expected and do I really want an argument as I point out to case officer it's not mandatory.

I'd be extremely wary of uploading my personal information onto a jobs website or is it done anonymously ?

If I go ahead and register I won't be making my mobile or home address public for potential employers that's for sure. You can upload your CV which I would edit first. Unsolicited messages is my main worry so an e-mail address is all they will get if I do register.

Do people still put their address on their CV??? I haven't done that in a million years.

I was told by a HR manager I know not to. Some employers see your from a certain area and assume your no good and the CV goes straight in the bin.

The site is essentially run by DSP & those referred to Jobs activation programs are "Encouraged" to register. People can even log in or register through their mygov ID.

As its linked to DSP they can check what if any jobs, Jobseekers applied for or Not as the case may be. It's a nonsense website, most jobs posted are for CE schemes, part time, nursing homes & hospitality.

It's used by Grubby Recruitment agencies to harvest Resumes also.

It's not mandatory to register but those that do should not have personal details on resumes, I'd also recommend PDF format.

Maybe you could get a new email address to use just for that?

At least that way your own email address remains safe and spam/unsolicited free.

Dempo1 - yes I agree with your comments. Do you think I should just go ahead and register? Don't want to get off on the wrong foot with case officer.

It's entirely up to you, you don't have to apply for any jobs but logging in occasionally & looking not a bad idea. You can at least say you were looking 😉

Yes I went ahead and registered in the end and agree with your thoughts. No matter how many times I try it keeps saying "Your profile is not complete" :(

That's because you've not completed registering details & profile.

I rang them and was told it's a "glitch" so it is complete even though it's telling me it's not and to ignore message. I wish I had rang them sooner. It had me tormented because I knew I had filled in everything.
