My young lad looking to clip in soon... I use regular shimano Spd sl.... I’m not sure he’d be able to unclip easily on these(he’s 10 and small enough for his age)
Is there a goto setup for kids?
    Cheers
    Marty.

Both my kids use spd (11 and 14) and find them easier to clip in/out of as the pedals are double sided.

spd SM-SH56, multi direction disengage, and spd shoes usually come with recessed cleats, so safer to walk in them also

    +1 for double sided pedals.

Shimano also have a "click r" version of spd which is even easier to get in and out of, worth checking out.
