Its the usual questions really.. What commute? How much are you willing to spend?

Not trying to be a smartass but budget is as little as possible she'll make the range work,to be fair in and out of the local town or in and out to college so 50/70 km daily is about the go of it.

They're overpriced for what they are, for pretty much the same money you'd have a Leaf. None of them lookers :p

How about that €3,750 Leaf (Jap import)? Doesn't get cheaper than that and she'll live with the limitation that the dash language is Japanese

My first picks would be Twizy and Zoe, if they didn't have the battery lease. But you could import a battery owned Twizy from Norway. Nowhere near as cheap as that above Leaf though.

Not the wrong thread for me :D

    Miss my E34 530i V8

Have you a link to the 4k imiev (and I'm sure the mods will then also let you away with a link to the E34)

If the car is 30 years old, that setup is not a bad one at all. The E34 with €56 tax and very cheap classic insurance, zero depreciation and very reasonable maintenance if you have a decent indy or DIY, won't cost much to own for the year if you only do a few k miles in it. Your daughter can then borrow Ioniq as she needs it as a named driver. Everybody happy.

Hmm I do need something to keep my rangie company......
The Indy us lined up......he's me.

Link to the actual car for sale (not just search results for the model): https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/electric-electric-electric/23307699

I wonder if it's still actually giving the range of 80-90 km as claimed?

Why don't they give the bloody mileage?

It's the first question that's gonna be asked!

There are a couple of renault twizzy s on done deal, strike me as a clever student car, easy to park and can't end up the taxi for a group... And probably will hold value really well..

    A Twizy for 50-70km daily.
    Who would do that?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,638 ✭✭✭zilog_jones

What do you mean? Who would drive that long every day in such a "car"? I know people who do similar commutes in motorbikes :)

For an EV? I could think of many others questions. Mainly around battery , range and degradation.
We’ve some of them here, fun to drive but don’t feel safe. As in if you crash it someone hits you , you are going to be in a bad way.

For a daughter I’d want something more solid like a leaf.

Or if range isn’t to important a Renault Fluence , most are battery rental but Renault should sell it outright to you cheap enough or offer you a much better than advertised rate
