Thinking of replacing brakes myself on E90, just looking for some tips/advice.

I have all the tools (except piston compressor), I assume that's all I am gonna need really?

I've only done brake replacement on E46 before, is there any major differences?

I gonna be ordering parts - anything else I should be looking to replace while there? (Other than brake shoes for handbrake)

    Do sensors need replacement too?

What is useful to jack a BMW is Jack pads for the jack points under the cills. If you want to put the car on axle stands the jack point is the differential for the rear and the axle stands are positioned at the cills using the jack pads. If you do jack from the diff you need a low entry jack to get it in the air (similarly the front there is a reinforced section near the sump).

For getting on and off the wheels what is useful is a wheel stud alignment tool to save messing around trying to align the disk holes and the hole in the alloys when putting the wheels back on the car.

How are you going to retract the piston without the suitable tool (especially if its the rear which in some cars needs to be rotated as the piston pushed back)?

For the F10 at least it is required to replace the sensor according to BMW.

I did front and rear on an E90. Nothing major, I think the pistons all just pushed back. I had to go and buy an Allen bit, half inch drive, 7MM I think. Replaced sensors.
