Question about Venti pram

I've just bought a new Venti travel system and I'm happy with it but I think it's strange that the newborn pram bit has straps. Any newborns I've seen in a pram are just placed into it, not strapped in. This is my first pregnancy so I'm not sure - should newborns be strapped in when placing them into the flat part of the pram? Thanks in advance!

That bit tilts up for when baby can sit up and you use it as more of a buggy. It's a brilliant feature as when you get to that stage your baby can sit up and look around but when they get sleepy you can use the handle to tilt the basket back flat and they can sleep flat with no disturbance!
I used the straps from the start as they start to move before you know it so I was always in the habit of clipping him in
