    Hi

I more a less have the option of an Avensis from an in law for nothing.

It’s a 2006 Avensis. 1.8 litre engine. Automatic. Only 40,000 miles on it. Obviously feck all use, just used for pottering around.

Any known issues with these cars?

Presume mpg will be fairly crap.

Nah, they’re bulletproof. Only 4 speed though. Mpg isn’t great but a free car is a free car.

    Would you get 30mpg? (Automatic)

You’d have to be taking it really handy but that’s doable. Its actually a pleasant enough gearbox.

Yeah, drove it a bit. You just kinda glide up through the gears.

Never look a gift horse in the mouth.
You are getting a car for zero euro so zero depreciation.

This is the description of the car on cartell: “Avensis 1.8 Luna SAL VS”

Is this different from the 1.8 “vvti” ?

    Same thing.
    Luna is the trim level.

We have one of these since new albeit a manual, there's over 220,000 miles on it now and it's still going strong.

For what they are, they're a nice car to drive, they're comfortable and quiet enough as well. I'd prefer it to the recently discontinued newer Avensis and it's a million times nicer than the original Avensis, too.

Just be sure to call it an aventis when talking to boggers, this will avoid confusion.

The back wishbones can suffer from a bit of rust. You can weld them but they are available spurious now. Apart from that it should be trouble free motoring for a long time.

Just means it has VSC, it used to be a €1000 option, but was made standard in late 2004 (with a €1000 price increase)
