    Hi Folks,

Just wondering if anyone here has done the "The Lost Adventure" / Eaglerider Coast2Coast ride?

Leave Orlando around 21st of March each year and ride to LA. Unguided tour sticking typically closer to the south to avoid the colder weather.

Myself and 4 friends are all signed up, have been doing lots of research and have routes in mind etc. But said I would drop a post here incase anyone has a personal experience?

We have paid for an extra few days. So at the moment we have 17 days and roughly the route will be as below

    Orlando - Tallahassee
    Tallahassee - Gulf Shores
    Gulf Shores - New Orleans
    New Orleans - Galveston
    Galveston - Austin
    Austin - Terlingua
    Terlingua - Las Cruces
Las Cruses - Pasyon - Sedona - Prescott - Kingman
    Kingman - Las Vegas
    Las Vegas - Lone Pine
    Lone Pine - Pismo Beach
    Pismo Beach - LA

Trip of a lifetime, if you dont get that on Go Pro to watch back in 20 yrs you wasted your time. Its on my bucket list!

Can I ask what type of money is involved.....?

This is Harleys only. Cant say I have interest in my day to day life to ride one, but looking forward to doing this.

I will be on a Street Glide, we also have Softtails and a Heritage.

I am hoping to get myself a DJI Osmo of some sort to get some proper steady footage etc. I have my DJI Mavic too, but undecided on if I want to risk it.

So there is a small discount for groups of 4 or more. Bike hire for 17 days with all the bells and whishtles insurance wise is $2700. Its not cheap, but significantly cheaper than say a 14 day hire on Route 66.

From there is up to you. Fuel is cheap (about €400). Rooms are as cheap as you want, we are sharing and average will be less than €50 most nights! Vegas and LA being the exception.

I have a crazy excel sheet tracking it all, but for now my overall budget is approx 5.5k

Once in a life time territory for sure

I have no experience of touring US. But from experience in Europe, I would add a few extra days in order to see some of those places you are passing through. So eg, stay 2 days in New Orleans( or wherever you want to see) to allow one full day of sight seeing etc.

I have found that 3-4 days travelling them one day resting to be a reasonable ratio but it obviously depends on what you want to see. (And how old you are!)

So we have the bikes for 17 days and currently have 13 days riding planned.

We might make it 14 days riding and split one of the big days, currently 500 miles from Austin to Terlingua, but I have heard its fairly boring riding and might be worth just getting the miles under out of the way and spend an extra day in Austin.

A few other days are short days, like Gulf Shores to New Orleans is only 200 miles with the sole aim of just getting to New Orleans before lunch and spend the day/night doing some of the sights.

The route is pretty fluid, we only have 2 locations that we are locked into for specific dates, and since its not a guided tour it will be very much dictated by weather and if we are getting bored!

Just have to have some kind of plan heading out :D

Sounds great OP. Is it an event as such with lots of other groups taking part or just the four of ye heading off solo?

So background is as far as I have established is that the hire company need to get a load of bikes every year from Orlando to LA around March, different rental seasons etc.

So rather than pay to have them hauled they rent them out a cheap, like half the usual price kind of cheap.

This year something like 80 riders left Orlando in March and rode all over the place, hitting every different weather including snow etc more north.

Although its not technically a guided tour they do normally have company I believe usually has a rider or two who ride out with a few larger groups giving them guidance on routes/roads etc. I havent looked to closely into this part as with a group of 5 we are happy enough to head out on our own.

I think already I might do this again in a few years on my own. Cut out some of the shenanigans like New Orleans and Vegas which are adding a fair bit to budget and go do some proper back of no where riding... but thats a ways in the future, need to get this one done first!
