I was back at my parents house over the weekend and noticed an outbreak of mushrooms in the lawn. We never really had many mushrooms there in the past so I was wondering what type they are. Any help appreciated.

    A pic would be helpful.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have the same query, if anyone has any ideas. Not going to even consider eating any of them, just curious as to what they are.

The big problem with websites (and books) is that the colours shown vary a lot from screen to screen (and from photo to photo). They're definitely a good way of learning about them and identifying just for the sake of it, but I wouldn't trust them to decide if they're edible or not.

EDIT: Those in the second and second last photos look like honey mushrooms. The dark, dark brown ones look like they're on their way to decomposing.
