Go to your local county council page, go to Planning Applications and either put in the address or check on the map, you can see all information about planning very easily.

Edit - you have to follow the application through to the details and look down the list of documents for a heading like 'unsolicited communications' or 'objections' or 'letter' or some sort of heading like that.

thanks for that. but no planning at all in for this building, so nothing in the co.co planning page. nothing to object to! . so would need to make complaint to co.co. Can complaints be seen by the public?

No, tour complaint will be confidential. Your details will not be released even if it goes to court, that’s the whole reason for the process and inspections, so the the LA has their own substantiated evidence.

I suspect it isn't information that the council would readily share until they are ready to or already have raised it with the property owner.

All you need to do is identify the site and indicate it doesn't appear to have planning permission. The council won't tell the property owner who complained.

Just to add to the above, it has to be in writing or by email. They won’t accept complaints over the phone. They will
Also need the complainants name and address
    For their records.

Unfortunately all the Planning department websites are slightly different so I can't give you definite information, but on the Council page under Planning there should be a heading 'Unauthorised Developments' or similar.

If there is no record of a development or application on the Planning website then there is no permission for that site and you will need to contact the Planning Department.

That may not show an unauthorised complaint.

Most councils show them on their online planning maps. Not all do

More than one complaint is still worth it.
