    Get 10 months. Oh wait.
Sean Keogh (30) first took an iPad and phones, then tried to escape in the couple’s VW Polo, hitting a patrol car twice and going “airborne” in the ensuing high-speed chase.

Sentencing him, Judge John Hughes said it was a “mean and dispiriting” crime that must have “marred and tarnished” the victims’ memory of their wedding day.

Dublin District Court heard that the husband and wife involved were “relieved” that the case was over but did not wish to make a victim impact statement.

Keogh, who had 80 previous convictions, was once jailed for four years for his part in a horrific attack on a Polish worker who was murdered by another man.

Meanwhile where I live now this is the type of sentence handed out
At Manchester Crown Court, Miss Gibby relived her ordeal as she saw Gibbons jailed for ten and a half years.

Gibbons admitted aggravated burglary and causing grievous bodily harm.

He had 19 previous offences on his record including the robbery of a 14-year-old girl who was mugged as for her mobile phone as she walked home from school. He had also previously served a four-year stretch for drugs offences.

There is a resource for judges and lawyers called the Irish Sentencing Information System (ISIS). Gives you loadza sample sentences for various crimes.

Knock yourself out. But I'm not really sure what your point is?

Simple. Why doesn't your length of jail time go up the more offenses you commit like in the UK

no the system here is like leveling up the more you commit the bigger the reward, 10yr sentences are usually given to those who have 100+ convictions and then kill someone.

He had 75 convictions up to 2010, so I would assume he has been inside a lot since. Unlikely to have added only 5 more in 9 years otherwise.

According to a solicitor friend the accused is only on trial and facing sentence for the crime on the indictment not his previous convictions for which he has already ahem, "paid his debt to society".

Send everybody to jail for ten years, that will at least get a percentage of criminals in prison.

    Sounds like a challenge

Sadly these days (well it’s not new) as soon as word goes around you have a family wedding or funeral your house is a target and you need to get a house sitter or ask the neighbours to watch.

And in this case the neighbours did exactly that, fair play

If only people would stop objecting to building new prisons...

Let’s not forget about the girl who killed an 80yr old man in a dangerously defective car (all the while driving without insurance) and only got a 2 year suspended sentence.

from the news yesterday fire eight shots and put a gun to someones head during a robbery gets you 12 years in this country with the judge giving him credit for his lengthy addiction history.

judges in this country are disgrace and they are as much to blame as the scrotes they preside over with the concurrent sentencing and lenient sentences

When he gets out and half kills some young fella who is messing with his car, he will be a hero to a lot of people.
