Have a brand new nordemende washing machine with a drum full of water. It doesn't drain.

It stopped half way through one of the washes, never drained and never worked again after that.

The lights turn on but none of the programs activate - thought I'd try do a spin or rinse to flush it out. Just makes a weird humming noise when I try to run one of the programs.

Is it fecked, or is there something easy I can try to fix it before calling a technician? (I'm not a plumber or any sort of tradesman)

I think id be calling who ever you bought it from, and remember your warranty is with the shop you bought it from, not some hot line for a service centre in kasakstan....
(the store will probably be perfectly nice and send a repair guy round)

Could be the filter at the bottom front of the machine is blocked by debris..even though it's new a tissue etc could easily clog up..at least that's all that rarely happens our bosch machine..as for nordmende I've never even seen one..they made TVS years back..
Best contact the store where u purchased from however if its something that clogged an outlet filter etc it wouldn't be the sellers fault..

+1 Nordmende and Telefunken were among the first brands of colour TVs in Ireland. Nordmene as a company was taken over by the French conglomerate Thompson. By the 1980s the Nordmende factories in Germany were closed and Nordmende brand was eventually purchased 'off the shelf' by the Irish distributor KAL. The website https://www.nordmende.ie/ plays up the brand 'heritage' with BS like 'for over seven decades...' and so on but the reality is that the appliances purchased today have nothing to do with the original company, it's simply a stick-on or 'velcro' brand.

This practice of slapping legacy brands on electrical appliances is now endemic with Beko flogging machines with the Grundig and Blomberg brands and for some time now, Argos has been selling 'Bush' TVs made in China.

Most likely caused by blocked filter as posted above. Switch off machine and pull out plug.
Open the machine and scoop out as much water as possible.
Then get a couple of towels and a bowl. Tilt the machine back and open the filter port located at the bottom of the machine. There is normally a slot on the filter cap which can be opened with a coin.
Place the bowl under the open port and drain the water out. You will need to open and close the port to control level of water in bowl and for emptying the bowl.
When you have drained as much as possible place towels under port, open and clean the filter.
Be careful tilting the machine so as not to damage the hose pipes.
It is worthwhile doing this yourself, if you can, as you will likely have to do it a few times over the life of the machine. Expect some spillage on the floor.

I'd be looking at the outlet hose, is it kinked, where does it go to and how high does the water have to be lifted.

While I really doubt the filter will be blocked I would look when you check it to see if there is anything preventing the impeller (moving part on the pump) from moving like a hair grip?

Also check if the pump is working. The pump is about the lowest component on a washer so its vaguely possible that electrical connector to it got pulled out.

One final think I have actually experienced is an engineer "borrowing" parts off a new showroom washer to fix another (result was a flooded kitchen) so really anything is possible.

Have you removed the shipping bolts?

It's not a warranty issue if its just a blocked filter though...

OP you will have a machine something like this
    WM1264WH.aspx

filter door is the thing on the bottom right, as posted above, if you can get the door open, bail out as much water as you can, then prepare for water to spew out of the filter cleaning pipe thats hidden behind that door.
