Hi I am from the Netherlands and we are used to eating paardenworst (horse sausage). And also smoked horse meat (paardenrookvlees). Where in Ireland can I find this, I didn't see anything at fx buckley butchers.

Just an image of what I mean:

Sorry if the images don't work I'm not exactly sure how to do it

I don't think you will. Its very unusual for Irish or British people to eat horse. We generally export any horsemeat for human consumption. There is a bit of a cultural taboo with Irish people eating horse meat.

    I'd love to try it.

I've tried it in France, very similar to beef but not as nice.

Butchers here generally won't dare sell horse due to people not thinking of it as food

Had it in France and Belgium; its fine.

A specialist butchers that does game and exotics, etc may be willing to order it in - there are Irish abbatoirs: http://emeraldislefoods.ie/index.php/equine

Well come here now it's not like the lot of ye are muslims for whom its Haram / forbidden now.

Many old horses are turned into delicious meat products, so as not to waste the animal. It's much more moral than just destroying the old horses. They have often had a good life, and the meat is lean and rich in protein and tastes good.

Its not religious, its cultural. I'm not saying its right or wrong. Just how it is. I haven eaten horse before and it doesn't really bother me.

I would eat any creature, except maybe not a dog.

There used to be a guy selling skewered horse in the temple bar market every weekend. Might still be there (haven't been in years)
