Renault Clio 2015. When I turn on the headlights the dashboard will then turn off, any idea why this is happening?

    It's French.

Does it turn off completely, or just get dimmer?

A lot of cars would dim the dashboard when the lights go on nowadays, I'm assuming their logic is that it's darker if you're putting the lights on, and as a result the dashboard doesn't need to be as bright.

^^^ This. If this is the case then you may have two different stored settings for the dashboard lighting, one for lights off and the other for lights on.

I've seen this on plenty of modern cars. An absolute pain in the hole for anyone who (rightfully) doesn't wait for darkness to turn on their lights.

Is there a slider wheel for dimming and brightening the dash lights? Its possibly set to the lowest and so if you switch on lights during the day the dash is very dim but should be clearly visible at night?

Shouldnt be an issue. If its not dark then you should be able to see the dash just fine, no?

Near your right knee there's a thumb dial with a picture of a bulb over it. Adjust it to adjust the brightness of dash lighting when the dips are turned on :)

All digital displays like the radio and car feedback/info system suffer. I can see the analogue/hardware things like the speedometer just fine of course.
