Manual and automatic

    Question for experienced drivers.
Few years ago I had professional lessons in a manual car, our car at the time was a banger (also manual), by the time I completed the lessons we got rid of the car, family expanded so driving was put on the back burner until now.
I want to get driving again, I have a provisional and insurance on our car. Our car is a manual, we've no plans to change car in the immediate future. But I want to drive automatic!
Is it possible to get lessons in an automatic , do the test in an automatic, but practice driving in our manual? (I'm aware I'm limited to auto if I pass the test in an auto)
Am I just destined to confuse myself by switching and changing?
I've tried automatic just around a car park and I much prefer it as I always found it hard concentrating on gears, clutch, biting point etc...

If you were going to practice in a manual anyway, you are going to have to learn to drive manual so may as well get the licence.

In general I would say people are better to learn to drive manual so you can do it if you have to. e.g. I drive an auto but girlfriend has a manual being able to drive it also gives a lot more flexability than if I could only drive my own car.

I compared price of 30 days rental in Spain, stick cost around 100 (before insurance and deposit, cheapest there was), auto cost around 500.

So decided to pass the test on manual.

Thanks guys. I guess I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and go manual after all.
