Hyundai i40 sticky gears

Having some issues with gears sticking when trying to change in a 2012 i40. The clutch has to be rammed to the floor to get it to change smoothly. I have brought it into Hyundai to have a look at it but they said that there is nothing wrong with the clutch or gearbox. I also brought it to an independent and he also said the same thing.

Anyone here have the same problem as this and know a fix?

    Thanks

Edit: there is also an extremely low bite point from the clutch I barely move my foot a couple of cm and it starts to bite

Same in our i40, indie mechanic said it was fine too.

But have a look at i40 clutch threads on here. its a sign of you needing the replacement kit.

Had the same with a '10 Kia Cee'd. New clutch and job done all back to normal

That's a very common complaint in them, it's the symptoms of a worn pressure plate. The Hyundai dealer was probably just terrified you were going to haul them over the coals on it.

They are fairly snatchy into gear even when brand new, but they are really prone to weakening pressure plates. The best solution is to replace with a good quality clutch kit and master cylinder. Dont expect miracles from that, but if yours is very very grabby then it will help it feel better.

It's well known the i40 pressure plate can get weak over time, replacing clutch kit and master cylinder will improve clutch pressure and pedal travel,

The one thing I noticed when I bought my i40 was how notchy the gears are. To the extent I have to make sure my revs suit gear . Especially in 2nd gear , worse when cold.

Mine is exactly as people have described here i had a new clutch kit installed. It improved it in the sense that it doesnt stick as often but is still notchy. It is worse from cold They are not a good car imo i will probably change it next year. It is a shame because they are really nice car.

    I know what your saying , I feel exactly the same ... it's such a pity ...

I bought mine fairly cheap thank God... I remember considering buying one 12 months previous at a local garage.... I ended up buying private and saved 5 grand ....

You also have engine worries with it I see on another thread...you've had bad luck ...how many miles it done?
