    Hi all,

Going to see the car I mentioned in the title tomorrow. To save people opening the ad, it's a 2007 with 130k Miles on the clock. Not much mention of service history but can follow up with that when I go. It's been with the same person from the beginning as far as I can tell and looks to very clean inside and out and is around ~€4000

Bar the general service parts and things to look out for on the car, are the there more specific things I should keep in mind regarding the 2.0 diesel quattro A3 ?

Has anyone here had one? How was reliability ? Did much go wrong in your time of ownership ? Or any other things I should take into concern before deciding what to do.

Would it not be wiser to go post 2008, assuming the tax is less.
Given you’re talking 11 vs 12 years old at this stage.

For €4K it would want to be exceptional

Thanks for that, ideally yeah I'd crawl up another year or so for a nicer yearly tax but from my(albeit) quick check on donedeal there doesn't seem to be another newer Quattro. Open to correction on that though!

The quattro on them is a haldex based system this requires an oil change every 20,000 miles and a filter change every other oil change, if there's no evidence of this being done walk on, listen for a (rotational) knocking or clunking from the rear after lifting off i all gears.

Generally the haldex set up is bullet proof when looked after but in the past i've encountered main dealers that weren't aware of this needing a srvice albeit that was over 10 years ago.

At 130k miles there would be no harm changing the rear diff oil too.

Thanks Tossy, I'll try to keep an ear out for the sound you mentioned, hopefully it's not there or if it is I hear it and know what it is.

If there is no sound and all seems well I may just service it myself(with help) straight away and start a log from there going forward.

That's all if the rest of the car is spot on of course.

I don't know where you are but if you are in the Kildare area and want the car scanned for faults or anything give me a shout.

So i went to see that Audi, cosmetically it seems to be spot on and a quick valet and it'll be in great condition.

AS I've never ran a diesel engine or a car with a turbo it'd be great if someone could clear these concerns up for me or confirm that it's time to look else where

In regards to the exhaust if any one could shed some light what this may be ?

Also just like to confirm is this a typical sound for a diesel turbo ?

Lastly, no video for this but after a few minutes with the air con on it started to make a fairly loud noise, could this be the air con unit itself or is it possible that it just needs to be "re-gassed" ?

    Thanks,
    Mark

Thanks Tossy! I may just steer away from this one.

    Thanks for all the feedback

Good advice Tossy. The scan would be my first port of call in a case like this.... make's very good sense for anyone buying a s/h car. if they are not willing to have it scanned,, walk away... quickly !!!
