Attic Venting and Insulation - Best Move?

    Hi all,

We're recently moved into a 1950s build mid-terrace and want to make some minor efficiencies heading into the winter season. I've been reading the NSAI Standards Guide and the SEAI site and am keen to ventilate the attic before re-insulating.

From reading the NSAI I'm cautious about proceeding with this measure of insulation and ventilation in one area of the house as I'm unsure what the potential knock-on effects will be to the house envelope system. Does anyone have thoughts or experience to speak to this?

The ceiling also has some minor holes from smoke alarm placement and removal - what is the best DIY approach to sealing the ceiling.

    Thanks in advance
