Fuel allowance backdated

    I think I know the answer to this but just asking to be sure. I applied for fuel allowance last November as part of my application for invalidity pension. The invalidity pension has now been awarded and will begin payment on 10th October. I know I’ll get arrears for the difference between invalidity and the payment I was on during the waiting period. I won’t be able to get the fuel allowance backdated though will I?

    Why not?

    If you were deemed eligible for the IP since last November then (assuming that you met the eligibility criteria) you were also eligible for the FA.

    Wait and see what happens when your arrears have been calculated and if the backdated FA isn't included then follow it up with DEASP.
