Angry People on Twitter

I use Twitter a good bit, don't have many followers which I'm told makes me a troll and also that I'm irrelevant because of it. No matter how many different wide and various tweet threads I read there is always an underlying anger among other tweeters. Even the most inane or even happy tweets bring out the anger in people. It's full of people who are constantly offended about everything and anything and I'm often left wondering do these people have any joy in their lives at all? I mean, I literally saw somebody being offended about a kid playing in the sand with their dog. I mean, wtf folks, is life not too short for this kind of ****e?

You come across a bit angry yourself.

Some people are like that all the time, Twitter is just another outlet for them to vent.

    Don't follow them then.

It's not people I follow that I find angry, it's all the different commentators

    It's underlying.

    The OP sounds easily offended.

You're trying to trigger me now but I won't allow it. I've taken way too many happy pills to react =)

I'm too old and too unbothered to be offended by bull****, especially Twitter bull****. Nice try though ÷)

Twitter is one of the worst things to happen to the internet.

Terrible class of people using it.

Appears to be overwhelmingly left wingers who populate twitter, which would explain the anger

Twitter is awful. Sometimes it resembles the IMHO section of Boards.ie.

Nah, pal. It’s full of disillusioned and angry men in general. The tribal politics stuff is just a manifestation of the anger. There’s a lot of anger in the world at the moment. Not good.

Let's not forget the angry women, my Jaysus they come out of the woodwork at times. I also find that anyone who has a flag in their Twitter name are normally complete bellends

It depends who you follow or interact with. I just follow people who I find funny or interesting. Describing Twitter as 'awful' is like saying that books are awful just because some of them were written by Jordan Peterson.

All I ever see or hear of it is awful enough for me to not bother with, just like the IMHO section of this site.

That is exactly to the word how I feel about books.

I had to stop using twitter because I found it overwhelming (imagine being too much of a snowflake for twitter?). Seriously, getting constant notifications on your phone that you're an awful person because of some minor disagreement? No thanks.

I remember during the 8th Amendment referendum someone tweeted an image of a Repeal sweater on a church altar. Like lots of others, I made a passing comment that it looked disrespectful and counterproductive. Cue a slew of mentions and DMs telling me to keep my Catholicism (!!) out of their campaign. Bizarre. I'm not Catholic and I was was always pro Repeal.

I only take a passing interest in Twitter anymore. If you have any nuanced views at all, Twitter is probably not the best platform.

Ricky Gervais put it well, he said getting angry about what you see on Twitter is like getting angry about seeing whats written on public toilet walls - so can you imagine all the drivel written on every toilet wall in ireland nevermind the world ??!!

Naturally we dismiss it as nonsense, tougher to do with twitter.
Also the anonymous aspect of it makes people more reckless, if you could talk to these people face to face I'm sure (hope) they are more reasonable.
