My poor 4yr old rottie bitch has a torn cruciate ligament and needs an operation to repair it unfortunately I dont have the money to pay for it all at once. I was wondering if anyone know a vet that would do the treatment and allow me to pay in instalments, I live in the laois area but don't mind travelling so if anyone can help me please get in touch Thank You

You might be better if with say a credit union loan and go with a good vet who has experience of the surgery rather than the cheapest. You’ll also have lots of follow up appointments so will be back and forth to the vet. Also with the size of her you need to go with an implant - the fishing line (I can’t remember the proper name!) technique is for smaller dogs. My dog had TTA Rapid and recovered really well from it.

thanks for your input I wasn't actually looking for the cheapest vet just one that would oblige me with accepting payment by standing order
I would never put my dog in jeopardy by looking for a cheap option

Will your own vet not do it for you?

Sorry I worded that wrong - it was too early for me!! :pac:

I think the problem you could have is they won't know you... so they may not be willing to take the chance? My guy's TTA Rapid was €2400 here in Dublin - he's insured but was 8 when he had it so I had to pay the excess and 35%. He was out on walks at week 2 and as the weeks went on we had to climb stairs, intermittent jogging and do his walks - his first walk his knee was bending again and I hadn't seen it bend in years!! So the rapid thing was true - especially compared to some of the other methods and I'm very glad I went and got a second opinion and then changed to this vet practice as they're fantastic.
