    Hi,

Am finding it difficult to get a clear answer for this.

If two retirees are both getting the state pension and one dies, will the other then get the widows pension in addition to their state pension? (contributory or non-contributory?)

You cannot get a Widow's, Widower's or Surviving Civil Partner's Contributory Pension at the same time as a State Pension (Contributory). If you are entitled to both payments, you will be paid whichever is the higher amount

    Seems clear enough.

No. The other will get whichever is the higher amount, and, if living alone, €9 living alone increase.
