Reducing hours

I have 2 part time jobs. One job is my ideal job in the field I went to college for, but I only do one day a week, usually Monday for 8 hours. My second job is a minimum wage shop assistant, 20 hours over Wednesday to Friday.

My ideal Job has asked me to go to 20 hours a week,Monday Thursday and 1/2 day Friday. If I accept this and the business picks up I may have a full time job next year, my problem is that if I quit the shop to take the other role I may not be entitled to any social welfare because I have voluntarily gone from 28 hours a week to 20. If I could keep both jobs on I would but Thursday and Friday are definite days for both places. I cannot live on 20 hours pay, only scraping by on 28 hours (total)

At the moment I do not claim any social welfare payments. Would I be denied any Jobseekers Allowance, 9 weeks of JA or can I go in and explain my situation. Does anyone know what happens in a situation like this??
