And an order for 100,000 of them from Amazon.

Not much details yet, as it kind of looks like Amazon's announcement took Rivian by surprise and they weren't ready for their announcement. But they say details will come soon. But for now they gave a concept picture.

Will they’ll know up with Ford and use one of their designs ? They seem to be getting cosy.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

It surprises me no end that there aren't far more EV delivery vans. Most vans are used locally and don't do big daily mileage and do quite a bit of start stop traffic at low speeds. Ideal for electric. Nearly all an Post vans should be EV. Don't know why they aren't. It would give an Post a gigantic annual saving on their fleet.

In fairness to An Post they have several Electric vans and I’m sure if they work out, all new vans that will do routes within the range will be electric.

The ESB also have some electric vans. Only right. I seen a 192 Nissan e NV200 they had a couple of weeks ago driving on the M50.

Seen that An post rents the vans from Northgate and / or Enterprise, probable as emergency vehicle.

There are already electric vans out there on the market, not sure whats new with this particular model except being backed-up by an online shop.

Its just that the "private" charging network needs to adapt. Also, staff / drivers behaviour.
I guess each provider or company will need many and slow & fast chargers installed in each premise so that they can be charged overnight or when panic hits logistics. Hard to see overnight my local post office having deployed 5-10 charging points.
They have deals with other partners to supply diesel on-premises and / or drivers have fuel cards.

Dont see anything major happening in the next 3 to 5 years,at least.

Vans are not based at post offices, they are at sorting offices and distribution centres. Also not sure what you mean emergency vehicles.

Dublin city council also have some LDV pick-ups on trial collecting rubbish around the city, and Dublin bus also recently acquired a Nissan NV200 for one of the lost property courier guys that goes around the depots. Van is based in Broadstone as they have their own charger already installed there. All of the drivers think they are absolutely brilliant btw.
