    Hi,
My car 09 Ford Focus Zeneca failed it’s NCT yesterday.
    It failed on the following.
    1. Emission test couldn’t be done due to too much oil -seems strange it couldn’t be done regardless but anyway...
    2. Ball joints worn on NearSideFront - what are ball joints?

Overall question how much approximately should I expect to pay to get them resolved.
Also my garage topped up my oil prior to NCT, should I ask them did they over do it?

Check your oil level on your dip stick on flat ground after car has sat idle for >1hr. It shouldn't be above max level.

Google ball joints for a ton of info.

Ball joints are bread and butter items for mechanics so it shouldnt be too expensive. 200-300eu at a rough guess.

The oil level is an issue for NCT centre as they rev the engine and don't want to damage it during the test. Should be easy enough for the garage to remove excess.

The question is why they topped it up like that, I wouldn't be happy. Excess oil is not good for the engine so would rectify it straight away.
