    Indeed.

And once again shows how very deep, competitive and difficult it is to medal on the international stage.

Some of our boxers were unlucky with the draw but World Championship medals are harder to get than Olympic ones. Joe Ward and Michael Conlon kept us ticking along the last few championships. Would still hope we can qualify 4 male boxers to Tokyo.. Irvine, Walker, Walsh and Nevin.

We could qualify a heap or a few or none.....

Nobody is guaranteed a place. The depth is very deep....

The general public, at times, do not get this. They see a few medals here and there, and the arrogance sets in that we have a "right" to them, and then when we don't deliver, the boxers get slated....

Even during our successful period from 2007-2013, there were many medals that were won by a punch here and there. It was that close. So much to consider and so much needs to come together to medal...

I remember some of the general public nonsense, and some even from the boxing fraternity in 2012, thinking Joe Ward just had to show up to get gold......

Problem was they didn't realize that he actually had to show up.............

I see La Cruz beaten in LHW semis on a 4-1 decision to a Kazak boxer...

I gave Kazak all three rds...

28/28 on 4 cards and 29/27 to Cuban on one card..no idea how you could give the fight to Cruz..
