Anyone know what would cause the service light to show up a few miles after reseting the service light on a Totoya Auris.

If it's a diesel check the engine oil level. My wife's 2011 corrolla diesel used to bring on the service light if there too much oil in the engine.
OP, A year and engine type would help narrow down possible causes

Could literally be anything, without reading the fault there's no way to know.

Are you sure it's the service light and not something else?
    Did you reset it yourself?
Did you use this method? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geotbOXIAsM

My guess is dpf is blocked or on the way there. I’ve seen this a few times, especially if the correct oil hasn’t been used.

In my wifes corrolla diesel an increased oil level above the normal bought on the service light. We would have to drain up to a litre of oil from the engine and service lights resets and stays off.
We didn't know why it was happening but it was eventually put down to failed dpf regenerations.
Seemingly it's common enough for the 1.4 diesel depending on driving style.

A blocked DPF would usually put the car into limp home mode.

Oil level too high. If not corrected will lead to blocked DPF as ECU will not allow the DPF to try and regenerate if oil level is too high.
