You've got to be fupping kidding me, it's France, so at a remove, but can anyone defend this? :D

Company got screwed even though they weren't involved in the coitus? Hmm, maybe the Immaculate Conception was true after all.

The morality doesn't play any part in this. If their law allows protection for employees on business trips then the activity is irrelevant.

Was he a condom tester? Male gigolo? Viagra salesman?? Many reasons it might be work related....

With a name like "Xavier X" some of that is entirely possible!

Seriously though (and playing devil's advocate a bit here) I think it's more a case of they are responsible for footing the bill for repatriation of the body and funeral costs via their insurance costs, as opposed to actually responsible for causing his death.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

It's France, it's technically illegal to not have a bit of Mademoiselle sur le côté on business trips.

When I read the headline I assumed it was some sort of escort he got as a work bonus, amazed that this was un work related and in his own free time and they have to pay out..

Standard practice, i travel a lot for work. If I have an accident while away they are liable. That’s why they provide travel insurance for our trips.

I imagine that the liability is for the insurance to cover it.

Is there a specific accidentally slipping inside a mistress policy? Then again, it's France, so not ruling it out.

I have to say knowing some companies, I would have grudging admiration for the guy.
He screwed over his company while getting his rocks off and in death.

That is quite an achievement. :D
Mind you probably not one that many people would want to emulate. :(

I am not allowed discuss …

Very simple if you are away with work you are covered by their insurance. You don't really have free time when away with work as you are not free to do as you would at home.
As somebody who did travel with work it doesn't matter if you are in a lovely hotel because you can't meet up with your friends and family. It is a horrible stressful experience especially if you are stuck with colleagues you may not even like but forced to spend more time with them.

Ya just gotta love the French....at times! :D

Un grave accident pendant une journee travail avec une autre femme. Sacre bleu!

But I think in this case I can see why this ruling was made...it didn't matter what the poor man actually did, but that it happened on a business trip, so technically on company time.

How is having a heart attack a work related accident? Especially when he wasn't even working at the time. It's ridiculous.

And if he lost at a game of Russian Roulette on a trip away would that also make the company liable.

He was away with work. If he was at home in his own bed it wouldn’t have happened

    Thats not surprising tbh

Fair few claims here for accidents on the way to work and at work parties same would apply to away trips. Altho that ones a cracker :D

Only reason people where there was for work.

If she was a lady of the night or a lady he met that night should come in to it.

If he pumped a litre of heroin in to his arm on the trip would the company be also liable?

She was no lady and might not have been female!
