The Hill or Uisneach in Westmeath is a pretty cool place in a county that offers very little to recommend it.

The Clonnagore area of Co. Monaghan. The only part of the Republic of Ireland that you have to enter another country to access.

My shopping centre has a raised car park and sometimes late at night cars drive off it into the air then dropping on to the road below.

    Victor’s Way in Wicklow

    http://victorsway.eu/

When I saw the thread title it was the first place I thought of. We've spent many hours getting into deep conversations with Victor, a fasinating and very interesting character.

The House first so you can have a drink in the pub after. Poulnabrone dolmen is also a short drive away, car park there was used in another episode.

    Little Island, Waterford

You certainly wouldn't think it's part of a big city, so peaceful there

The German Military Cemetery in Glencree, near Enniskerry in Wicklow. Very interesting and extremely picturesque.

"No, no. That sort of thing wouldn't interest me at all."

Plus one on the horseshoe . Whenever I have visitors, that's the first place I take them. If you have time, a walk up Truskmore reveals a lovely view too.

What's the pub like these days? Is it still full of Chinese people?

I always found the Huguenot cemetary tucked away discretely by Stephen's green to be a very interesting little spot. Would love to in for a look.

Always closed behind the gates but looks very well kept.

So many in North and west Mayo....

One that stands out is Downpatrick Head.... dramatic cliffs, that take the breath away, a war time bunker.... St Patrick chapel...ocean and sky and that small breakaway land. And the blowhole...

    Lough Hyne in West Cork.
It's a freshwater lake that was breached by salt water 4000 years ago. Has plants and animals not found anywhere else in Ireland because of the unique circumstance. No charge. If you don't bring togs bring boots to climb the trail up through the woods.

Also a bit different and special is Garinish Island on Cork/Kerry border.
A nothing coastal rock island that was converted bit by bit into a botanical paradise. Just a heads up you need to pay twice, once for the boat trip and once to the OPW to enter the island.

A beach outside Louisburg on a sunny evening, looking out at Clew Bay, Croagh Patrick over your shoulder and a long empty beach. Beautiful.

I will never forget kind of falling into the Gleniff Horseshoe on my way home from trading at a farmers market. Words! Just sheer enchantment that was almost unreal

The visitor centre across the road from it is neat too. It's mostly about the German orphans Ireland took in after the war, with a bit about the cemetery too. There's a decent cafe too.

I suppose Powerscourt is worth a mention given the number of movies and TV series it has been in - including Black Beauty I think and of course The Count of Monte Cristo and King Arthur.
