Susi second chance question?

I started a level 7 course in sep 2015 but dropped out in April 2016 as I wasn't interested in the course. I got the full susi fee grant for that year.
I want to start another degree course (level 7 or level 8) in September 2020 and I'm wondering if I'll be eligible for the fee grant again?

Not for first year but if you meet the criteria you should get one for further years

Depending on what you received. Do you mind disclosing what you got for that year?

If I'm progressing to level 8 would I not be entitled as I'm progressing in my studies?

    Progressing what studies? You bailed?

Okay you seem to be jumping to conclusions instead of giving me helpful advice. When I left school I did a level 7 and 'bailed' before the first year was completed due to a lack of interest. In sep 2020 I hope to start a level 8 course as a mature student. So that's the progression I'm talking about.

Its not really progression, its changing your mind and doing something else

Whatever way you look at it it's still entering a higher level of education than you previously have. And I'm not the first person to change there mind about what they want to study.

Bad advice in this thread. As you left in 2015 and plan to restart in 2020 you're probably eligible for "second chance status". I'd wait until October/November when they're not so busy and enquire as to your eligibility.

Go to you old college now and get proof of when you left etc. You'll need it eventually anyway.

It's just a bit grey on what the 5 year exclusion period applies to. Is it if you've dropped out of a course of which you received a grant for? Or is it if you want to go back and do a level 7 for example having already dropped out of a level 7.

You see I left in April 2016 so does the 5 year gap applies for the curriculum years of 16/17, 17/18, 18/19, 19/20 and 20/21?

I understand I answered your question though. You will qualify second year.

If you're returning to level 8, you really should know the difference between their, there and they're by now though.
