Hi

Just wondering if I can make a freedom of information request on sales of a particular product to a company?

For instance, Could I email ford and ask them exactly how many transits were sold in 2010?

I understand public entities and government bodies are under obligation but im wondering about private companies.

No. They have no obligation to supply any information to the public.

If you are referring to ireland you could make foi requests to all local authorities and ask how many transits were registered in 2010

Local Authorities don't have the info. The Revenue Commissioners do though.
