Crankshaft seal replacement cost?

    I have an 07 520D BMW E60 (pre-lci) with the M47 engine

The car has a small oil leak for the last year and I have been putting off getting it fixed as I have only needed to top up with a litre of oil every 6 months or so

I've decided to get it done and last year when I was getting something else done, the mechanic told me it was both the front and rear crankshaft seals that were leaking

He quoted about 700 to get it done. It sounds like a decent price to me and I do trust him not to rip me off but he can be difficult to get hold of and get the work done in a timely manner so I was wondering what kind of prices I could expect in other independant mechanics?

The question then is what other maintenance do you elect to have carried out when you are at it!

I do have some other bits and bobs that need doing but this would be the main work needed.

Don't think the timing chains need servicing on the M47?
