Hey,can any plumber or someone in the know help me, I have a boiler stove which when I have a good fire going it gets the rads reasonably warm, but the problem is it has never got hot or warm water to the taps.on advice I put the stat in hot press to 80deg to see could it just put hot water to taps(it didnt) and then when I put it back down to 50/60deg the circulating pump clicked on and put the rads warm. Thanks

This might be a silly question but is there a coil in the tank fed from the stove and if so is there a valve on it that might be stuck closed

air lock in the cylinder circuit. It has happened to me a few times.the heat travels to the stat by conduction instead of convection.

And could that still be the problem if I can get hot water in taps ,if I put on immersion or heat through oil boiler but not stove?

the oil boiler and immersion and stove boiler are all separate ways to heat the water in your cylinder.the stove way of heating the water is known as a gravity fed system so can get airlocked.if you are handy read thishttps://community.screwfix.com/threads/gravity-hot-water-airlock.62087/

The air vent with the screw has nothing to do with the solid fuel side of things. Op, has your small attic tank got water in it?

Not sure I'll check later when I get home, it not the easiest place to get up to fairly tight!

Just got around to checking small tank today, and it seems theirs about 4 inches of water in it(less than half full) ,not sure how much water meant to be in it.
