Lots of men dont actually measure their height. They just tell themselves they are 6 ft. Other guys at the same height also say they are 6ft. So on it goes.

Yep! I’m 6 foot tall and I’ve definitely had a few guys tell me ‘but you can’t be 6 foot tall, I’m 6 foot and you’re taller than me!’

A lot of women (not all) prefer the man to be taller which owning to evolutionary reasons is fairly understandable but there's more to it than 'just be tall'; confidence and self belief is more important.

Granted on Tinder and POF some woman explicitly state that you must be tall. Then again it's Tinder and POF so what would you expect. Fast food dating for the masses.

Most women tend to be small, about 5 foot 5, so unless you are some kind of midget, you should be fine.

It’s just dawning on me now but since my 20s girls that are taller than me don’t speak to me in real life unless they have to. I’m fairly average height.
Only if their job made them do it. I don’t blame them though there are some traits Iin woman I wouldn’t have time for either. Funnily enough girls that are taller than me wouldn’t be for me but I’d be polite enough to chat about the weather with them if stuck waiting somewhere.

Maybe they are scared I’ll get the wrong idea.

I'm a healthy 6'5 so I stand out. Ladies do prefer a big man, and I mean that in more ways than one. I'm blessed in both respects. Got a flaccid that exceeds the length of most men's hard ons. It's a big old piece of meat that women love to stretch and spin. Bit of a nuisance at cinemas and concerts tho. Sorry manlets but that's the truth.

Are you not pretending to be foreign anymore? If you are you really need to remember the faux broken English.

So in reality it's probably a micro cock.

If it was as long as he's claiming women would run away screaming. It'd far too uncomfortable on the cervix. Girth is more important than length.

Ah the poor lad has it tough, he can't go to the cinema or a concert without his bit pipe ruining the night for him!

No, I've never thought anybody to be less deserving of respect because of their height. Truth is gob****es come in all shapes and sizes! Tall people can command attention more easily, but their actions and words is what is respected not stature. Sexually tall men have an edge but again personality will win out in the end.

It is far more about your personality, how you look and your career more than height. That is the reality of it. What good is being 6'5 if you look like the elephant man and are shovelling shít for a living?

Well, you’ll be further away from the shít than a short person.

Peter the Great of Russia was nearly 6ft 8" back in the early 1700s, must have scared the life out of everyone. Apparently a temper to match.

Loads of people say they're 6 foot without really having the foggiest.

Like Trump imagining he is 6ft 3.

I'm 6"2 according to my latest measurement.

I love being tall..it was a curse growing up though as it was a target for being slagged.

Stephen merchant. Now there’s a tall lad. Picking up the ladies left right and centre.

It's not a fact, it's a generalisation. And an excuse used by some perennially unlucky-in-love short men. Most profiles mention nothing whatsoever about height.
I don't think that's true. I think it's something embittered little men, who have a chip on their shoulder about their height, tell themselves when it's actually their personalities that repulse women.

Sometimes I refer to my height on Tinder (a mere 5ft 7 and a bit), sometimes I don't. Whether I've referred to it or not, I've never noticed any difference in the number of women who want a piece of this.

I like to think I'm not embittered but I'm definitely little and have literally been told by some women that they don't date guys smaller than them (I'm 5ft 3).

I have plenty of friends, both male and female, so I'm pretty sure it's not my personality that's the problem either. You're 5ft 7 and what women (generally) want is someone taller than them. This qualifies you as tall for the purposes of attraction given most women will fall under that height.

Most profiles don't have to mention height in order for it to be generally true either; some women may not wish to reveal their preference.

I do get that there's a lot of bitterness and anger out there in the dating and online dating world but I don't think this should preclude us from being able to observe and discuss general trends openly.

There are studies out there that show taller men are more likely to earn more, more likely to be promoted and get the majority of attention from women, so I do believe there is some beneficial prejudice toward being tall, even if I understand people's squeamishness in admitting it.

It's true, taller people are more respected...every company I worked for, all the directors and high management staff were over 6ft. If your small, people don't care, if your bald people won't look at you as much either. Just my observations.

As I said earlier, people don't like others who stand out, being tall is no benefit to the majority of people

If you have a high profile it's different

    Exactly.
Tall or short; man or woman; respect has to be earned.

I've been balding since my mid 20s. Hasn't affected me one bit.

Nevermind dating but in the business world/day to day life. I was reading something that said that almost all the U.S. presidents going back a long time, have been nearly 6ft tall. None was 5ft 6in (there were some but during the times of the Founding Fathers).

I also watched Dragons Den and saw that many presenters, especially Peter Jones were very tall. The guy is ****ing 6ft 7. It sounds a bit ridiculous but I can't help but think if he wasn't that tall, he wouldn't be as successful.

Any anecdotal truths to this? It makes sense that you'd have more respect for someone you look up to who is more intimidating.

Nearly 6ft isn't tall. For a girl maybe, but a man? Definitely not.

I'm 5'11" and don't think of myself as tall tbh. Though looking around me there would be more men shorter than taller than me. I wouldn't like to taller or shorter, for me it's about "right", I suppose because I've thought about my height pretty much never. Boringly just above average really.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

I'm 6' exactly. Can't say I've ever noticed any extra respect because of it. I'm wary of short men, many feel they have something to prove (oddly common in Glasgow) and are prone to starting trouble.

Absolutely. I'm 6'4 and had an average height guy that I didn't know tell me for about 10 minutes that he had knocked out a bouncer my height before. I just smiled and nodded throughout. Luckily he didn't know that I'm a coward.

Did it affect your choice of name? ;)

Yup, some women don't date guys smaller than them. Some don't date guys smaller than 6ft. Some won't date fat guys, skinny guys, guys with beards, guys without beards. Some won't date guys at all (wtf are they, lesbians or something?)... and some (clearly lesbians) aren't attracted to me.

What women generally want is lots of different stuff. Nobody needs to be generally attractive to everyone - they just need to find mutual attraction with someone.

I wonder if that's related to confidence, rather than beneficial prejudice. Are taller men more likely to carry themselves with confidence? Something I've noticed about middle (and, more often than not, senior) management is that their confidence is usually greater than their competence.
