Railway stations - pay for parking?

On the ESB’s eCar Connect app, if you look at the description for any charger located at a railway station, it says “Free parking (up to 24 hrs) while charging an EV”. However when you go to any such station, there are aggressive APCOA notices all about the place, reminding you that parking charges apply 24x7, and it’s €120 to get the clamp released, etc.

I’ve never yet seen a physical sign saying that EVs are exempt from parking fees while charging. My experience in Kilkenny is that they leave you alone, and I seem to recall being told by someone in an official capacity that it was OK as long as the car is juicing up. However I was in Tullamore station recently and there was a sign about fees right at the chargers, which had me paranoid, to the point where I stayed nearby (I only needed a quick boost to ensure I’d be above 10% reaching home).

Does anyone know the official position on this? Anyone ever been clamped while charging?

24hrs free parking while plugged in (NB not while charging, but while plugged in) for 24 hours in any carparks owned and operated by CIE

Be warned some car parks beside train stations are NOT owned by CIE, instead the council, so not free. I think booterstown is an example but I am not 100% certain. I recommend people put up the rules on the plugshare app for every spot as rules can change and vary per location.
