    My absolute favourite even though it's not strictly an Irish ballad but I think we have made it our own.

    Do you mind if I sit here down by your graveside
    To rest for awhile neath the warm summer sun
    Iv been walking all day and I'm nearly done.

    Nothing could be worse.
    Maudlin old piss and bunch of drunken sadsacks getting misty eyed over some romantic notion of the past.
    It's not real music like say the Vengaboys or some other great artist.

    You can't bate the auld ballads after a few pints!

    Treated my infant son to this in it's entirety the other night to get him to sleep, his sister (5) was sitting on the sofa enthralled. When i finished what was in all honesty, probably the greatest ever rendition of the all time classic, she turned to me teary eyed and asked

    "Can you sing me another song"?
    "Of course i can chicken, what would you like"?
    "Baby shark please":D
