Any things you wanted to do, and how did they go for you? What have you learned on the journey?

I wanted to have a bit of comfort as a kid, would have came through anyway as people got a
Lot wealthier, but I achieved it through working like a lunatic, ended up way better off than I ever dreamed and got to move home to Ireland at a relatively young age.
Then I wanted to win a county senior championship, didn’t happen, reached a final, lost by a point. Realized soon afterwards it wasn’t about winning, not really, the joy of hurling is pushing yourself as hard as you can and doing your best.
Left education at a very young age and always thought I’d like to catch up. Did a degree in English and history part time in the 90s, followed it with a masters two years ago.
I’m shoving on now, still have a business project I want to finish. Have three adult children and a few grandchildren now and all of them have given me more pleasure than you’d think possible. Even my 31 year old who is still under my roof and giving me lip:) In fairness he’s a mighty man and a good fella to drink three pints with every Thursday evening, one of the highlights of every week.
I guess what I’ve learned is that family and live are everything, but other distractions and work goals can be somewhat rewarding too.

Travelling as opposed to going on holidays. Taking a big risk with my job.

Two things I thought I'd be better at. I feel a lot of modern life is a distraction and I am poor at avoiding distractions. Therefore, I lose focus on big things I would like to try.

Work is a means to an end and not an end in itself.

I wish I had learned this earlier in life and not put so much effort into something so unrewarding.

OK well for me, growing up I always wanted the career, relationship (marriage) and kids....in that order. It did not quite work out in that order but sure what of it? Life often throws us opportunities and curveballs and well you make the most of what you have at that time.
I'm now probably happier than I have ever been even though things went pear shaped in more ways than one along my journey but they have contributed to the who and where I am now so it's a case of you win some, you lose some for me. But not every loss is a negative; it can sometimes be a gain too.
