How to fill these holes in ceiling

    Any help much appreciated.

Had an electrician in to install downlights in a room that had no access from above, so it left a few holes in the ceiling to get the job done.

Can anyone suggest the procedure for filling these, and what to use please? Want a smooth finish ready for touching up with white ceiling paint.

This hole has steel beam directly above. I still have the plaster disc that was drilled out, but can’t screw it back as no room to fit a small bit of wood above and screw into due to the steel beam.

Image below is the drilled out disc of plaster

Ideas on these 2 holes also please.

    Many thanks for any advice

Glue it back to the beam and fill.

Bit of timber above drill up into it doesn't have to be flush so let it go up a bit so to fill it up and then sand it then paint.

Thanks, the steel beam is stopping me doing that though it’s tight to the top of the plasterboard. I’ll give that mesh idea from the YouTube video a go.
Better to keep the plaster disc and glue it and fill around , or just do it without using the disc ?

Feed a bit of cardboard folded with a string knotted through it into hole, pull the string so the cardboard pulls flat against the hole. Fill hole which now has a back, cut string flush when filler is dry.

Pull the excess skim / paint off the plug and glue the plug back in by whatever means. just makes sure there is 2-3 mm of space left for filler.
Chamfer the edges of the hole and plug first with a stanley knife.

Get some gyproc joint filler in any builders merchant https://www.gyproc.ie/products-systems/products/gyproc-joint-filler it's not expensive and will do you for a lifetime of small repair jobs.

Mix a bit with water in a small sandwich bag so it's like really thick whipped cream. Squeeze it into the gap and trowel it flat. It will go hard in about an hour. Go for thin layers if needed or if it sags - scrape it off to allow for another layer.

When you're happy, give it about 3 days to fully dry and then paint.
