In the garage we have no internet and wanted to hook up a usb dongle to get access to internet, could anyone say if the dongles are locked to a provider as found an old meteor dongle with sim card enclosed.
Could a sim card type just use data for connecting to internet as its not in daily use.I have used hotspot on phone but wanted its own connection on laptop.Pay as you go as if not used for weeks i dont want to fork out E30 per month.Any suggestions please cheers.

They are locked to providers. If u already have bb in your house then just get a wireless adapter for the laptop.
Is the laptop not wireless already is there a button on front of it

Garage part of your home or off site ? Any dongle I had was locked to network (Vodafone). Have you a 3 pin socket in the garage ? Can you use powerline adapters, assuming both house and garage are on the same fuse board.

No its not home based but work based, yes the laptop has a wireless card but the previous borrowed connection got locked so hence why i need to look for something cheap. Not sure if these usb dongles are as popular as years ago.Cheers.
