    Hello
There are new neighbours who have recently gotten a cockerel thats crowing constantly through the night and into early morning. We live in an estate. Both my partner and myself work and we are being woke up several times during the night by the noise. Im just wondering if this is legal or is there somewhere i can make a complaint as its getting to much. Any information is appreciated.
    Regards

Have you talked to the neighbours? The 1st port of call is always the neighbours. If no joy then you need to contact the Environmental section of you local council.

    1.
Is the area urbanised and built up, or is it a suburban area or rural area?c

    2.
If you recently purchased your property there check if there is any provision in the title t re keeping of poultry etc?

    3
If you and the cockerel owner are both LA tenants then as already suggested get onto the LA.

There was a major saga in Achill some years ago re a loud cockerel. There were injunctions and some lively days in court. Well reported in locals at time

Meanwhile as Del2005 says. Should make every effort to resolve without litigation

When I was living in the English countryside I had a cockerel. One neighbour complained & several said that it was nice to hear a country sound.

To keep the peace I simply put him in a soundproof (not airtight) box each night.

Not the Irish courts (or even a common law system) - but interesting to see similar played out in France.

Would OP and partner have an actionable case in nuisance ?

+1 the issue of the nature of the locality.
What might be a nuisance in Belgrave Square [London] might not be a nuisance in Bermondsey - Sturges v Bridgman [1879] 11 Ch D 852.

Also note that there is no defence in the argument that the plaintiff came to the nuisance. i.e. this cockerel was crowing away long before you turned up in the area......
