Anyone know the origin of this?
Is it legit or something that was invented long after 1786 for divilment purposes? I am guessing divilment but wouldn't be completely sure

Definitely "modern" (could be Victorian even) fake.

I would say it is to keep criminality to a minimum. Much like in the Old West in America where you had to surrender your guns and agree to a code of conduct. Like in certain famous towns like Dodge City, Tombstone. and Silver City.

Even more modern than Victorian. It's a common enough poster on the walls of pubs in England.

Plenty of pubs rely on the trade of skulking loafers.

Modern fake done up on Word and designed to fool half drunk patrons into believing the pub they are in has centuries of history even though they have a half memory of it being a Woolworth back when they were a kid.

    From wiki:
A fakir, or faqir, derived from faqr is a Sufi Muslim ascetic who has taken vows of poverty and worship, renouncing all relations and possessions. Fakirs are prevalent in the Middle East and South Asia. A fakir is thought to be self-sufficient and possesses only the spiritual need for God.

Yeah, I don't think I'd like them plaguing me and I trying to enjoy my quiet pint. Fair call I say.

    T.S. Eliot:
Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity,
He's broken every human law, he breaks the law of gravity.
His powers of levitation would make a fakir stare,
And when you reach the scene of crime - Macavity's not there!

    They could supposedly levitate'n'stuff...
